I obtained my Master’s degree in Microbiology and Immunology from McGill University in October 2022. At the Marczynski Lab, I delved into the study of the coordination of bacterial replication, with a specific focus on the role of a protein named DipM in the bacterial cycle.
Prior to embarking on my graduate school journey, I served as a research assistant at the Zughaier Lab. Apart from handling managerial tasks and responsibilities, I worked on a fascinating project that explored the role of autophagy and the inflammasome during bacterial infections under hyperuricemic conditions. This research venture led to my first publication.
I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences (with Honors) from Qatar University, where I engaged in a diverse range of topics spanning microbiology, genetics, molecular biology, immunology, hematology, histology, pathology, and biochemistry. During my final year, I embarked on a research project investigating the relationship between autophagy and the inflammasome. I was proud to present this research at the SLB/IEIIS meeting in Phoenix, AZ in 2018.
In the last quarter of that eventful year, I undertook my clinical laboratory training at SIDRA Medicine. There, I mastered standard protocols followed in hospital clinical labs, which included the collection, receiving, and processing of human specimens.
When I’m not doing science, I enjoy volunteering, photography, and playing video games (currently wandering in Zelda TOTK!)
